Active in the early years of the 20th century, March was a prolific sculptor of portrait figures, busts and heads of British royalty and nobility, and contemporary celebrities.

March was one of a large family of sculptors who originally came from Hull. Having studied under the sculptor Keyworth he went on to the Royal College of Art and the Royal Academy. Together with his six brothers and sister Elsie, they began a sculpture studio in 1902 in Goddendene in Kent where each of them specialised in a different area of bronze casting and marble carving. Sydney executed many portrait busts of eminent contemporary figures including Cecil Rhodes and Edward VII. His other principal works were war memorials, as far a field as Calcutta (an equestrian statue of Lord Kitchener) and Canada (the United Empire Loyalists Memorial at Hamilton).

If you can read this then your already on our new site!

After 7 years or more (can’t remember), we felt it was time to retire the old site, which has served us well and for posterity we’ve captured a screen grab of it here.

The new site follows the structure of the old with a creative new modern design. We hope it’s not to far removed from the orignal and you find it easy to navigate and use.

As well as the orignal features and the main Auction pages, where we’ve kept the easy to use browsing layout (albeit, now vertical), we’ve added Social Media, (which I’m advised we now need!), as well as the ability for us to update News items as and when required.

Thanks to Adam & Sarah at ‘thetotal.net’ for the new site and continued support.
