Vendors Terms and Conditions of Sale.

All charges are subject to VAT at the current rate with specific exceptions.
- Commission is charged at the rate of 20% on the hammer price of each Lot with a minimum charge of £3.50 per Lot whether sold or not. Lots selling for £17.50 or less, or unsold against a reserve will attract a charge of £3.50
- Items presented or collected for sale will be entered in the first available sale, but may be held over, at the Auctioneers discretion, until space or a suitable sale is available.
- All descriptions are at the Auctioneers discretion.
- All items held for sale or storage are insured and a charge of 1 % will be levied on each lot.
- Payments are available for collection from one week on Thursday following a sale. Postal payments from the following Wednesday.
- Payment to Vendors is not made until the Auctioneers receive payment in full, in the event of a default the goods will be reoffered for sale.
- Lots failing to attract a bid will be deemed unsaleable and will be disposed of at the Auctioneers discretion.
- Items not in compliance with current Legislation or deemed unsaleable will be tipped and the costs incurred will be payable by the owner.
- The Auctioneers act as agent for the vendor and reserve the right to bid on their behalf.
- Each Vendor will supply their name, address, telephone number and VAT status and sign the Auctioneers entry form.
- Mains gas appliances are not sold by the Auctioneers.
- All electrical appliances will be tested by the Auctioneers electrician, in compliance with current regulations, and a charge of £ 2.00 per item will be levied, with the additional charge of £1.00 if a new plug is required.
Buyer Terms and Conditions of Purchase

- The Purchaser to be the highest bidder who will pay the hammer price plus a premium of 20% plus the current rate of VAT thereon
- In the case of a dispute the Lot may be re-offered at the discretion of the Auctioneer who shall be the sole arbitrator.
- Each purchaser shall register with the Auctioneers giving their Name, Address and Telephone number.
- All purchases must be paid for, in full, and no lots may be removed until such payments have cleared.
- Payments are accepted in Cash, Cheque (subject clearance), Credit card (subject to a surcharge of 2%), Direct Debit Card (No surcharge).
- The Auctioneers act as agents for the Vendor and reserve the right to bid on their behalf on Lots offered subject to reserve.
- The Auctioneers will not be responsible for any loss, damage or injury occasioned to or sustained by persons on the premises.
- All descriptions and advice are given as opinions only and are at the Auctioneers discretion. Whilst the Auctioneers list any defects that they have found it is the Buyers responsibility to examine Lots and determine the condition at the time of sale as no refunds will be made after the fall of the hammer. (Subject to current legislation)
- Lots marked in the catalogues with * are being sold for a VAT registered vendor and VAT at the appropriate rate will be added to the hammer price, as well as the buyers premium.
- Commission bids are accepted by the Auctioneers who undertake to purchase the lots on the bidders behalf at the best advantage. Lots purchased by absent buyers will be consigned at the Auctioneers earliest convenience at packing and postage charges to be agreed.
- Book purchases are not subject to VAT.
- All electrical appliances are tested by the Auctioneers electrician, in compliance with current regulations, for safety, wiring, fuses and plugs. But this does not guarantee them to be in working order.
- Where mechanical or electrical goods are marked “S/R” the Auctioneers have deemed them unserviceable and they are offered for spares or repairs.
- Where mechanical goods are unmarked or marked as “W/O” ( working order) the Auctioneers will refund the purchaser in full upon return of the goods ( in original condition) if found not to perform the task they were intended for within seven days of purchase.
- The Auctioneers are registered with North Yorkshire County Council and all goods are offered in compliance with current legislation as required by the Trading Standards Office.
